Hello from Nevada PTA
Erica Nelson

A question for the end - What security changes are there as we enter the buildings for our meetings? It is very different and difficult environment since we were last in person. Thank you.
Kaionnia Louisiana PTA
26:40
is this Page being emailed?
jacki ball
27:05
Hi Kaionnia - we will email the slides and a recording of the webinar after tonight. Thanks!
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
27:24
I anticipate being asked to meet with our senators and their staff on Wednesday morning at 9:00. That's been their preference every year because they usually have a "Hoosier Huddle" coffee event for constituents on Wednesday mornings. I'm hoping we'll have all needed materials on Tuesday night in case we can't make the breakfast/awards event?
jacki ball
29:02
Hi Carissa - we will have all the materials virtually available to you in the coming days so you will be prepared!
Kate Clabaugh
29:10
We will be covering any new procedures as it relates to COVID and if your member specifically requests a meeting earlier than 10 am - certainly up to you but you will need to plan your own transportation!
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
29:38
Thanks Jacki. Are we getting printed leave behinds?
Carolyn Nelson-Goedert, FL
30:11
Hello from the Sunshine State - Florida. 🌞
jacki ball
30:19
Carissa - no printed leave behinds this year. All digital!
GARRI MAUCH
31:36
How long does the walk take from Senate to House take?
jacki ball
32:14
Hi Gary - I would give at least 15 mins but more is better because meetings can start late.
jacki ball
32:41
Garri - sorry the chat auto corrected me on your name..sorry!
GARRI MAUCH
32:50
Well that and the new protocols. I fear it really is going to take more time this year
GARRI MAUCH
33:19
Thank you, Jacki
Kate Clabaugh
33:30
Also might be helpful to schedule all Senate meetings in the morning and House in the afternoon or vice versa to cut down on back and forth between both chambers!
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
33:42
Agree Kate!
GARRI MAUCH
34:52
I didn't get a choice or any wiggle room. Senate at 2:15 and House at 3pm …. I currently cannot breathe
GARRI MAUCH
35:28
LOL😂
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
36:23
Garri if you have multiple people from your state going, you might want to split up.
Kate Clabaugh
38:08
Just for clarity - last meetings for the day could be at 4pm but no later in order to be part of the Debrief Reception back at the hotel at 5:30
Jenna Alexander
38:16
When are you going to send a list of registrants so we know how many people/constituents are attending? Some legislators will not schedule a meeting unless you have a constituent and can say who will be in the meeting.
GARRI MAUCH
38:26
Carissa, true. We will figure it out. PTA Flexible right😉
Kate Clabaugh
40:10
We are planning on providing state/delegation lists by May 20th and then attendee lists following the close of registration by June 3rd - we can offer lists before than upon request but know it likely might not be complete - email legcon@pta.org for those list requests
Carolyn Nelson-Goedert, FL
40:11
Agreed, Jenna. I need this as well.
Nicole Lesnick
40:39
We have one virtual scheduled for Thursday because our senator and staff weren’t available on Wednesday. How many meetings should we try to get scheduled?
Laura Stewart
42:10
Where is the link?
Kate Clabaugh
43:19
Our new planning tool for meetings will be sent as follow up to tonight's webinar! We will include links to key committees and links to the pieces of legislation to see if your member of Congress is already in support or needs to be added as a co-sponsor!
Susan Baird-Joshi
45:26
Can you repeat the Congressional committees that were very important?
Kate Clabaugh
46:37
We will include in our follow up but just a teaser for key committees! Key Committees - is the MOC a member of the following Committees?Youth Mental Health:Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP)House Energy & Commerce, Health SubcommitteeChild Nutrition:Senate AgricultureHouse Education & Labor CommitteeCommunity SafetySenate JudiciaryHouse Judiciary
Susan Baird-Joshi
50:37
Thank you for the list. What about appropriations? That was another ask discussed last week.
Laura Stewart
51:36
Will the legislation per bucket be shared as well?
Kate Clabaugh
51:47
Child Nutrition, Youth Mental Health, and Community Safety are really are three major policy issue areas - but yes absolutely Senate or House Appropriations as well is key
Kate Clabaugh
51:55
I will be walking us through the "leave behinds" here in a minute
Kate Clabaugh
52:14
*our three major policy issue areas (sorry for typo!)
GARRI MAUCH
54:11
Is it rude to ask for a different time if the time given doesn't work?
Kate Clabaugh
54:42
Be polite - but nope we need to do that often as National PTA!
GARRI MAUCH
55:36
Thank you Kate.
Kate Clabaugh
56:12
Great tip Otto!
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
58:13
Those personal stories that connect these things back to your home state are SO important. You need BOTH the data AND the human connection as part of your story.
Scott Overton
58:56
otto on the other side be ready to respond to the elected ask! senator Wyden
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
58:59
Agree about knowing the history of the representative. If you can thank them for something they have done, that's a good thing.
Rose Acerra
01:02:13
totally agree Carissa
Erica Nelson
01:02:14

Kirsten Morgan
01:12:21
When will we receive the form letter? and are we required to use form letter if we already have the contact info?
Carissa Dollar (She/Her) Indiana
01:12:45
Do you have a list of current sponsors/co-sponsors for these bills?
Kate Clabaugh
01:14:22
Yep - we will have lists of current co-sponsors for each bill so it is clear who to thank and where to narrow in on which bill to champion
Rose Acerra
01:14:32
This is great info!! Thank you so much for this PTA GA team!
Erica Nelson
01:15:23
What can feel overwhelming as FLC and if we don’t have local unit legislation partners is that we don’t have the whole view of local units - my state - IL is a big state with very different views on policy. Stay focused on the National PTA asks with a local story/ example.
Kate Clabaugh
01:16:58
If anyone is missing contact information for their Hill offices - please reach out to legcon@pta.org
Kate Clabaugh
